The isometric camera reminds me of Sanitarium, the visuals are creepy and well designed, the atmosphere is dark and foreboding. The resolution is restricted to 720p but the blurriness help the game feel more nightmarish. Voice acting is pretty good for the most part, as well as the ambient sound and music. The plot kept me intrigued enough to play this on one sitting (taking me around 4 hours without actively chasing achievements). All signs showed that this would be a hidden all time classic of the horror-point and click adventure. But almost every minute I've spent on the game I felt like something was missing. At no point I got that tightness in my stomach, that anxiety that all horror game should make you feel at some point. There's barely any psychological horror, only visual and even though you do come across some visions\/hallucinations I don't feel the maker of the game handled them correctly. In fact, they are never acknowledged or explained (are they hallucinations, is there a supernatural element, are they holograms?). The majority of the backstory is given through PDAs and I think the developer really went overboard with their use. Many of them have too many entries that have not any significant point of being there other than make their owners more fleshed out, but after a while it just gets tiresome reading lines and lines of text just to get to the couple of entries that serve a purpose. It wouldn't be such big of a deal in most cases but they are basically the only thing you interact with besides puzzles and items. You can't even exam things around every room, you get just a quick description of you are seeing, but at least for me it would be far better getting the thoughts of the protagonist on what he sees instead of reading about it on a PDA. Since this is a point and click adventure, I have to speak about the puzzles. Since there are no dialogues in the game (you talk to other people but those are basically cutscenes, you have no input on them) you have only inventory based riddles to deal with (with a couple of interaction with devices). I haven't encountered any absurd puzzles except maybe a couple where you have to interact with items that in other cases don't have any reasons to. But you rarely have more than 4-5 items on you, so you can solve any puzzle just by experimenting with what you have. The game is a solid try for a project that basically coming from one person. The story is interesting, puzzles don't get in the way, visuals are pretty good (I would like higher resolutions and maybe a camera closer to the action), sound is good... but for me at least it feels like something is missing. Again I can't pin point what it is, but I've never felt that anxiety that horror games should make you feel. The fear of the unknown, the shock of what you are experiencing, the unease when you talk with other characters, the disgust of watching unspeakable horrors, playing with the players head, nothing seems to be here. That's what made Sanitarium such an unforgettable experience for so many people. Still a solid effort and with that price there's no reason of not giving it a chance. You might even find my negative points to be insignificant compared to the positive aspects of Stasis. Still I will recommend it.. The story is quite compelling, in-fact that is 'the' only thing STASIS has going for it because the gameplay and pluzzes were absolutely abhorrent. I really very strongly disliked having to put up with the ridiculous puzzles and I was born in 90. I've played every Resident Evil and Silent Hill when the puzzles were challenging, played Sanitarium and MYST on the PC so I am no stranger to puzzles; in-fact I thoroughly enjoy games with interesting puzzles. STASIS on the other hand, has some of the absolute dumbest puzzles I had the freaking displeasure of pulling out my hair to figure out. Need this body tissue sample to be smaller while you're in a surgical lab? Don't look for any medical tools, bash it with a pistol you'll never actually use! You pick it up just to bash body tissue into little pieces, that was it's purpose! MAKES SENSE GUYS. I hated this game. Really actually hated it. After beating it I feel nothing but anger that I wasted my time playing this POS. Look, just go to youtube and watch someone play it. Don't waste your money. The story was decent. I say decent because having to trudge through all the BS to see the end just wasn't worth it.I really hate this game, and I've purchased Overkill's TWD a couple days after its release and I hate this game more than that. I know I cannot get a refund and that's fine. In-fact, I'm deleting this garbage game from my library.. This game was very fun. It was hard, and scary. I loved the Dead Space \/ Aliens \/ Resident Evil feel this game had. I also loved the hidden Aliens reference. I found the puzzles to be challenging, solutions needing to try everything possible. That means doing things you wouldn't think of doing. The game has no crashes or bugs. Well it has bugs but they are the kind you don't want infesting your ship. One of the best things in this game is the audio. The sounds of bones and flesh, fluid and guns are all really very well done. Screams in the background will unnerve you. The rooms with the radio adds will being to drive you insane, making you want to leave the area faster than other rooms. I would have liked to see my character put on some armor or something, but then, this isn't that kind of game. You will be reading a lot here. I only found one typo :) Get this game if any of this sounds good. The game is polished and the story is worth going through.. If you're on the fence about this game and haven't played Sanitarium, play that instead! It's an absolute underrated classic with a wonderful story that evolves in a very unique way.Be warned: Stasis is absolutely full of "guess what the developer was thinking" puzzles. I loved Sanitarium as a kid and perceive it as holding up Quite Well when I played through it again a couple years ago and was extremely excited to try this game. However, unlike Sanitarium's intriguing first hour wherein you explore a tower full of sanitarium inmates before being whisked off to a similarly crumbling but absolutely bizarre small town, Stasis has you running around a LONG series of dark corridors, trying to figure out which pixel will get you which bizarre item you need to do... something - it's often not clear. Once I read that, for some reason, you have to use a dirty towel from a toilet on a door to keep it from closing (???), I realized this game was going whole-hog into some of the most frustrating mechanics of the games it is referencing, and not for me.
